Who I Work With
About Me . . .
Humans are designed to be in a relationship with others. However, sometimes relationships can be overcome with unforeseen conflict, challenges, and lapses in communication that may be difficult to navigate. As a clinician, my training assists me in working with families, individuals, and couples in uncovering strengths and redefining unwanted relational interaction patterns.
My Emphasis . . .
For some, coming to therapy for the first time may feel uncomfortable, shameful, and challenging. There is a significant amount of vulnerability that comes with speaking to a therapist. However, I believe that it is within that movement that new strengths are discovered that ultimately push one toward the change that they desire to see.
While I work to assist families, couples, and individuals in overcoming the initial concerns involved in seeking therapy, my ultimate goal is to aid in the cultivation of change that is desired to be seen in the context of the relationship. This may involve discussing emotions that are experienced, deepening intimacy in relationship, and working to look at the problems from a perspective that fosters hope that change is possible.
My Values . . .
I work collaboratively, respectfully, and compassionately with each client and value the perspectives that are brought to the table. I believe that Christ assists me in the work that I do with clients, and it through His direction and provision that I am able to help others in cultivating the change that they desire to see.
Additionally, as an individual of color, I understand the concerns that center around mental health and seeking services. While not often discussed, the need for mental health services was present in my community, this fact has motivated my desire to break down the negative connotations associated with seeking therapy. As an individual that has had to overcome these stigmas myself, it would be my pleasure to work others facing similar concerns.
